Synopsis
Da Første Verdenskrig er på sit højeste kastes de to unge britiske soldater, Scofield (George MacKay, kendt fra Captain Fantastic) og Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman, kendt fra Game of Thrones) udi en tilsyneladende umulig mission. I et kapløb mod tiden må de krydse fjendtligt territorie for at levere en besked, der vil forhindre et altødelæggende angreb på hundredvis af britiske soldater – heriblandt Blakes egen bror. 1917 er instrueret af oscarvindende Sam Mendes – kendt for American Beauty samt James Bond filmene Skyfall og Spectre. I de øvrige roller ses stjerner som Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden, Colin Firth og Mark Strong.
