Synopsis
’Bombshell – opgørets time’ giver et indblik bag facaden i verdenshistoriens mest magtfulde medieimperium, den ultrakonservative TV-station Fox News. Filmen er baseret på virkelige, skandaløse hændelser og er et portræt af de modige kvinder, der risikerede deres karriere og omdømme, ved at kæmpe imod Fox News topchefen Roger Ailes’ sexchikane af de kvindelige ansatte. ’Bombshell – opgørets time’ er skrevet af Charles Randolph, der også stod bag den oscarbelønnede ’The Big Short’. Med knivskarpt overblik tager han her fat på de amerikanske medier, en række stærke kvinders kamp for retfærdighed, Trumps utrolige vej til magten og den spæde start på den bevægelse, der senere blev kendt som #metoo. I de bærende hovedroller ses Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie og Nicole Kidmann, mens de øvrige roller varetages af et særdeles stærkt hold bestående af John Lithgow, Kate McKinnon, Allison Janney, Ashley Green, Alice Eve, Mark Duplass, Connie Britton og Malcolm McDowell. Både Charlize Theron og Margot Robbie er henholdsvis blevet Oscarnomineret for deres mindeværdige præstationer i kategorierne Bedste Kvindelige Hovedrolle og Bedste Kvindelige Birolle. Filmen instrueres af Jay Roach, der tidligere har stået bag film som ’Meet the Parents’ og ’Trumbo’ med Helen Mirren og Bryan Cranston, som modtog en oscarnominering for sit portræt af den legendariske manuskriptforfatter Dalton Trumbo.
