Synopsis
Ved åbningsceremonien for en folkeskole samles skoleelevernes tegninger og gemmes til glæde for fremtidens elever. 50 år senere fejrer skoles sit jubilæum og børnetegningerne findes frem. Men ét papir skiller sig ud... Det mystiske papir indeholder kun række på række af tilsyneladende tilfældige tal. Professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) ser dog en gruopvækkende sammenhæng mellem tallene: dato, sted og dødstal for alle større katastrofer igennem de sidste 50 år. Men tre af katastroferne er endnu ikke sket, og den sidste indebærer masseødelæggelse på verdensplan. Da myndighederne vender det døve øre til, må professoren selv kæmpe i kapløb med tiden for at forhindre den ukendte, men ultimativt ødelæggende katastrofe - uvidende at det vil kræve det ultimative offer at forhindre dommedag…
