Synopsis
Det handler om kærlighed.John Tyree (CHANNING TATUM) er en ung, flot fyr. Han er professionel soldat - i US Army’s Special Forces, stationeret i Tyskland, men med opgaver i verdens aktuelle brændpunkter, konflikter og krige.På en orlov hjemme i USA, South Carolina, møder han tilfældigvis Savannah (AMANDA SEYFRIED).De forelsker sig i hinanden. Han lover ikke at forny sin kontrakt med militæret. Og John og Savannah holder intens kontakt med breve til hinanden. De kan begge se frem til både en ende på adskillelsen og en ny fremtid sammen.9/11 - terrorbomberne i Twin Towers ændrer alle deres planer. John føler, han bør blive i militæret, Savannah bliver hjemme, hvor der er andre, som har brug for hende, og som hun holder af.
