Synopsis
MELANCHOLIA er en smuk film om verdens undergang. Filmen er skrevet og instrueret af Lars von Trier og produceret af Meta Louise Foldager og Louise Vest for Zentropa Entertainments27. Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg og Kiefer Sutherland spiller hovedrollerne sammen med Alexander Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, Jesper Christensen, John Hurt, Stellan Skarsgård, Udo Kier mfl. Holdet bag kameraet inkluderer den prisvindende fotograf Manuel Alberto Claro DFF (Reconstruction), scenograf Jette Lehmann (Flammen og Citronen), og kostumier Manon Rasmussen (Dancer in the Dark). Justine (Kirsten Dunst) og Michael (Alexander Skarsgaard) fejrer deres bryllup med en luksuriøs fest hos Justines søster (Charlotte Gainsbourg) og svoger (Kiefer Sutherland). I mellemtiden er planeten Melancholia på vej mod Jorden. MELANCHOLIA er en psykologisk katastrofefilm af instruktøren Lars von Trier. Executive producer er Peter Aalbæk Jensen og Peter Garde. Co-producenter er Lars Jönsson for Memfis Film International, Madeleine Ekman for Zentropa International Sweden, Marianne Slot for Slot Machine / Liberator Productions and Bettina Brokemper for Zentropa International Koln. Yderligere co-producenter er Film I Väst, DR og Arte France Cinema. MELANCHOLIA får dansk premiere den 26. maj 2011. Filmen er solgt til det meste af verden inkl. USA, Tyskland, Frankrig og England.
