THE HUNGER GAMES
Synopsis
I en nær fremtid, i ruinerne af dét, der engang var Nordamerika, tvinger den nye stat, Panem, hvert år landets 12 distrikter til at sende en teenagedreng og -pige til at konkurrere i The Hunger Games. Spillet er landsdækkende tv-underholdning, hvor de 24 deltagere skal kæmpe til døden mod hinanden, i en gigantisk arena, indtil kun én vinder står tilbage. Der er ingen regler, men de fleste toptrænede unge deltagere har forberedt sig til The Hunger Games hele livet. Det gælder dog ikke for den unge Katniss og hendes medspiller fra distrikt 12, Peeta, der nu er tvunget til at stole på deres skarpe instinkter og deres tvivlsomme mentor, den fordrukne Haymitch Abernathy, der er tidligere vinder af spillet. Men hvis enten Katniss eller Peeta skal gøre sig forhåbninger om at overleve, står de over for umenneskelige beslutninger i arenaen, overlevelse overfor menneskelighed - og liv overfor kærlighed!THE HUNGER GAMES instrueres af Gary Ross, og produceres af Nina Jacobson’s Color Force sammen med producer Jon Kilik. Filmen er baseret på Suzanne Collins’ bestseller roman af samme navn, og er den første i en trilogi af romaner, som har opnået global tilslutning. Bøgerne er solgt i mere end 23 millioner eksemplarer alene i USA.
