END OF WATCH
Synopsis
END OF WATCH er en utroligt ærlig, stærk, rå og intens, gribende, dramatisk beretning om familie, venskab, kærlighed, ære og mod. Den tidligere Oscar® nominerede og BAFTA prisvindende Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain (2005)) og Michael Peña spiller hovedrollerne som de unge, entusiastiske politiassistenter Taylor og Zavala, der hver dag i deres black-and-white patruljevogn forsøger at opretholde relativ ro og orden i Los Angeles ubetinget farligste og mest voldsramte gader og stræder i South Central LA. Meget af filmens gribende, subjektive intimitet udspringer af, at historien fortælles udelukkende via optagelser fra politimændenes egne håndholdte HD kameraer, bilkameraer, overvågningskameraer og bandemedlemmer og almindelige borgeres egne optagelser. Taylor og Zavala bevæger sig konstant og konsekvent i det livsfarlige grænseland mellem bander og borgere og fanges konstant på den forkerte side af alle mulige slags næver, knive og skydevåben. Deres arbejdsområde er storbyens mørkeste, mest voldelige og dårligst oplyste gader og der går ikke en dag uden de sætter deres liv på spil for borgerne og – ikke mindst – for hinanden. Men hjemme venter familierne, der er tvunget til at leve under den skygge det er at vide, at ens elskede måske ikke kommer hjem en dag…
