Synopsis
’Lyset i havet’ udspiller sig på en øde australsk ø i årene efter 1. Verdenskrig, hvor en fyrpasser og hans kone forbliver barnløse efter en tragisk abort. Men en dag konfronteres de med deres livs største moralske dilemma, da en lille båd, med liget af en mand – og et levende, to måneder gammelt spædbarn - skyller i land. Da de beslutter sig for at beholde barnet og opfostre det som deres eget, får deres valg altødelæggende konsekvenser for samtlige involverede… Nu er bestselleren, der begejstrede sine læsere verden over med sin universelle beretning om kærlighed, skæbne, moralske dilemmaer og hvor langt et elskende par vil gå for at opfylde deres smertefulde drømme, blevet filmatiseret som en visuelt betagende, klassisk stjernespækket romance med den dobbelt Oscar® nominerede Michael Fassbender, Oscar® vindende Alicia Vikander og Oscar® vindende Rachel Weisz i hovedrollerne.
