Synopsis
Katie (Bella Thorne) har levet hele sit 17-årige liv isoleret i sit hjem, fordi hun har en livstruende følsomhed over for sollys. I løbet af dagen er hun tvunget til at holde sig indendørs, kun med kontakt til sin far og hendes bedste veninde. Men om aftenen efter mørkets frembrud åbner Katies verden sig, og hun vover sig ofte ud for at spille sin guitar for rejsende på togstationen. En nat møder hun Charlie (Patrick Schwarzenegger), en tidligere high school svømmestjerne, som hun i al hemmelighed har beundret i årevis, og de to bliver øjeblikkeligt forelskede. De starter en sommerromance, men Katie holder sin sygdom skjult for Charlie, hvilket ender med at få uforudsete konsekvenser.
