Synopsis
Alle familier har en hemmelighed! Da Graham familiens matriark, Ellen, går bort, opdager hendes datters familie flere mystiske og skræmmende hemmeligheder om deres ophav. I takt med at hemmelighederne afsløres, finder familien sig på flugt fra en uhyrlig skæbne, de synes at have arvet. En skæbne der langsomt ødelægger alt, de kender til. Den spillefilmsdebuterende instruktør Ari Aster har med HEREDITARY skabt et sandt familiemareridt, hvor en families tragedie omdannes til en ildevarslende og dybt foruroligende historie om ondskab. Samtidigt føres horrorgenren nye spændende steder hen med filmens rystende portræt af familie og arv.
